Ōmaha Half Marathon 2026

Sunday, 29th November – The Ōmaha Half Marathon is flat, fast and finished at the beach 🌊 10k, 5k Fun Run and 2k Kids’ Dash are also on so the whole family can join in the fun.

Runner’s World named the Ōmaha Half Marathon one of the world’s top 10 bucket list half marathons, and it’s right here on the Matakana Coast.

On Sunday, 29th November 2026, the half marathon starts with 2km along Ōmaha Beach, then crosses the famous dune boardwalk at the northern end, one of the most photographed stretches of running in New Zealand. From there you head past Omaha Beach Golf Club, cross the estuary causeway and follow a quiet section of the Matakana Cycle Trail out to Point Wells, before looping back to the finish at Rahui Te Kiri Reserve.

Not up for 21k? The 10k Classic takes the original lap of the Ōmaha peninsula, beach and boardwalk included. The 5k Fun Run & Walk stays on Ōmaha’s walking paths, and the 2k Kids’ Dash runs on footpaths and closed roads for runners aged 10 and under. Every finisher gets a medal, whatever the dist...
