With a focus on local stories and local food sourced from the nearby Kaipara Harbour, manuhiri will hear kōrero about this vital seafood basket and why the Southern Hemisphere’s largest harbour must be protected if it is to flourish.

Experience the values of manaakitanga (hospitality), whakawhanaungatanga (getting to know each other) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship) as urban and rural communities come together in this showcase of cultural vitality.

Following the traditional marae powhiri welcome and Māori village tour, you’ll enjoy a delicious feast of local kaimoana (seafood), a kapa haka performance, waiata and cultural exchange. This lively zero-waste event will take place in the marae’s wharekai.
