Matavino is a small boutique vineyard owned and established by Jim Hight, that epitomises the diversity of the famous Matakana Wine Region. With a vision to grow a variety of wines to match local food and produce. We grow the red Italian grape varieties Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Dolcetto from the Piedmont area, as well as the French white varieties of Viognier and Chardonnay. The vines are hand-nurtured using sustainable practices, and the Barbera and Nebbiolo wines are fermented in the traditional way using authentic Italian Amphora clay vessels. All Matavino wines are Vegan certified.
